In June 2025 I attended a wood firing course with Nic Collins at the Barn Pottery on the outskirts of Dartmoor National Park. In the months leading up to it, I created the pots that would be going in the firing, experimenting with new clays and forms to suit both the reduction firing but also the extreme environment that they would be going into. The pots below are a result of an 82 hour firing in Nic’s anagama kiln - a collective effort by 8 of us on the course all sharing the shifts to get the kiln to 1300 degrees.
